This funny top ten list is a silly mix of spells from the Harry Potter books and words from Dr. Seuss books. The joke (if there is one?) is that they can be hard to tell apart.
To be honest, we've decided to run a few of these Harry Potter themed lists as a "palate cleanser" following the 2024 U.S. presidential election. This list is one of a few that we drafted in June 2020 but didn't include as part of the klugness website's October 17, 2022 launch. Our recent list of beers OR Harry Potter magical creatures jogged our memory about the wizard lists we drafted in 2020, so we plan to run about four of these whimsical Harry Potter lists in lieu of whatever other whiny content we might otherwise come up with while suffering from the election outcome blues.
Hmm, where were we? Ah, yesthe joke here is: can you tell which items are Harry Potter spells and which items are Dr. Seuss words? Perhaps one test might be whether you'd feel silly holding out a wand and uttering the word? For example, "expelliarmus!" sounds more bold and confident than "quimney!" On the other hand, are sneetches the golden things that the seeker tries to catch in Quidditch, or something from Dr. Seuss?
Ha, that's the idea.
