The first Coen Brothers movie our webmaster saw was "Barton Fink," which struck him as very weird and inscrutable. What did all the closeups of peeling wallpaper and a flying insect mean? It was a mystery.
So the grouchy old man thought he was done with Coen Brothers movies...until the day his mom talked him into watching "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Alas, the grouch didn't like that either.
Later, he watched "No Country for Old Men" primarily because he heard it was nominated for an award, but also because he didn't realize that it too was a movie by Joel and Ethan Coen. Old grouchy thought the movie was pretty creepy and wondered why it was necessary to show a large pool of blood slowly flowing, but then again that probably helped the movie win some type of cinematography award. Dacht.
So yesit's true that grouchalupagus has never seen many of the highly regarded Coen Brothers movies that he's making fun of on this funny top ten list, but will that stop him from publishing it? No! Sure, it's unfair, but who said life was fair?
